Langkawi islands hopping. Fancy a day spent visiting the pristine islets of Langkawi Island? Then look no further than the Langkawi Island-Hopping & Eagle Feeding Tour which takes you on a journey to discover the fabled sights of some of Langkawi’s most gorgeous islets.

Starting with ‘Pulau Singa Besar’ – literally translated to mean Big Lion Island – you will be able to venture through the lush greenery of the rain forests or soak up the sun on its beautiful beaches.

Tourists can take a quiet stroll down the beach, visit the animal sanctuary or swim in its crystal clear waters.

Things you’ll discovers

Pulau Dayang Bunting

Dayang Bunting is the second largest island in Langawi’s cluster of 99 islands. The literal meaning of its name is ‘Island of Pregnant Maiden’. And it has a wonderful large fresh water lake (known as Lake Guillemard) surrounded by hills having dense rain forests.

The legend says that a man named Mat Teja met and fell in love with the princess Mambang Sari at the lake. Having reconciled with their misfortune, they decided to lay their son in the water of the lake. The gracious princess also blessed all women having difficulty in conceiving a child. They would become fertile once they take a dip into the water of the lake.

Pulau Singa Besar, Eagle Feeding

You will see eagles in many places around Langkawi. After all the name of the island has been given after the reddish brown eagle. Helang in Malay means Eagle and Kawi is reddish brown color. The reddish brown eagles (also known as Brahminy Kites) are the most common form of eagles that you will find here. You will also see many White Bellied Sea Eagles in Langkawi as well which are larger in size.

The main feeding areas of the reddish brown eagles is at the Kilim River area at the north eastern end which is part of the Kilim Geopark and also the water area near the island Pulau Singa Besar located just south of the main island. It is a spectacular sight where large number of eagles circle the sky and dive into the river to catch their food. You will watch this for about 20 minutes while sitting in the boat.

Pulau Beras Basah

Pulau Beras Basah, located 25 kilometres southwest of Kuah, features expansive sandy beaches, swaying palm trees, and clear blue waters against a verdant mountain backdrop. Therefore, we highly recommend bringing along a change of clothes, blankets, and beach essentials during this trip.

Despite its popularity amongst tourists, Pulau Beras Basah remains mostly underdeveloped save for several washrooms and rustic-looking stalls selling drinks and snacks for their convenience. There isn’t any accommodation on the island, so an overnight stay is inadvisable for travellers.
